Angel Beats – Tenshi Figure Review

HiRes here. She’s angel like huh?

She’s known as Tenshi or Kanade Tachibana (立華奏) from the anime, Angel Beats!. She’s one of those characters who was misunderstood from the start. The Afterlife War Front led by Haruhi… er Yuri called her Tenshi or Angel because she has this wings and she was thought to be of service to God. This is because of her duty as the student council president where she ensures the student obeys and lives a fulfilling student life.

I imagined her here glowing that’s why I overexposed this. (⌒▽⌒)☆

The figure here from GSC depicts her as a real Tenshi. If you don’t know the anime, you’ll still call her Angel – a great way to express her character. I love her dress! It’s soft PVC and is about 10% transparent. Look closely in the picture above. Try to trace her right leg inside the dress. Still visible, right? If you are willing to destroy her dress (well actually you can just cut the neck strap of the dress) then you can make your on take off version of the figure. But I wouldn’t as I am not rich and Kanade-chan should remain pure. (。・ω・。)ノ♡

This figure’s box is kind of thin which is a no-no for me – the biggest down side. Not only it risks damage during transit but I really love to preserve my figures’ boxes – part of collecting that my dad told me. Never throw anything that came with the product. My dad’s a fan of shows like Storage Wars, Pickers and such so he really supports my collecting in some way so long as I have savings.

The figure background that came with the box comes a little damaged… well it just has some dents which is needed to take into consideration when placing lights. Uneven glossy backgrounds are your worst nightmare for reflection. Ugghh.. (´A`。)

Well without further ado, here is my shots of the Tenshi figure from GSC!  (´∇ノ`*)ノ

  1. Nice review! This is a really nice Kanade figure, I actually want to buy her now…. but… so many others I’m already buying… Decisions, decisions.

    1. Thank you! Yes I agree. The figure is simple but beautiful. Even the flow of the dress is perfectly lined with the flow of her hair. Geometrical but artistic. 😉 I’ll be following your blog too! Was excited about your post on Gertrud. I have her too and haven’t done a shoot yet. 🙂

  2. Ohh Tenshi… She’s one of those figs that I already had a concept for a shoot, the moment I saw her! She looks so ethereal! I suggest that you ditch the box and take her outside for a good sunrise shoot with the blue sky! Hahahaha! (lol I just said my concept there XD)

    1. Haha! Is there a like button here for comments? :)) I’ve been thinking of the same concept too. I want to overblow those sunrays behind her. Sadly though it’s the rainy season here in our country. I’m thinking of taking her out next weekend and some other Nendoroids to do an outdoor shoot. Been a while since I’ve done one. For the rest of the weekdays, I’ll be praying for a nice weather. 😉

    1. Wow thanks! Yes. I do some post processing to check if there are overblown highlights etc but not that strict for those. Not the Photoshop level too. I’m meh when it comes to those applications. Ahh. That’s called vignetting. I do post process vignetting but you can produce that effect if you mount a filter on your lens. 🙂
